blog post no. 4

Chapter 9 in the Bedford Book of Genres focuses on revision and going through your work to finalize your piece. It notes to use your own observations of your work, and to reflect critically. Look at it from different angles, question your own reasoning and read your own explanations to see if you responded adequately, etc. The textbook also notes to revise based on a peer review. Using classmates or impartial parties to comment objectively can be an immense help because they may notice something you looked over, or offer an explanation as to why they perceive something differently than you perceived it. These are extremely important tools for a final draft because they give the writer a more rounded paper. More than a singular view point has been given to the paper and you can reach a broader audience this way.

I think this is very helpful advice and can take some of the strain off of anyone writing a paper, because they’ll be able to know if they are really getting their point across. I know that I struggle with being confident in my writing, and worrying whether it is adequate enough for whatever its purpose may be, and peer reviews could be a great way to ease that stress.
